Message from the Chairman

Since its establishment in June 1999, the Taiwan Media Watch Foundation (hereinafter referred to as Taiwan Media Watch) has been committed to media monitoring, media literacy education promotion and media policy advocacy for 23 years. We truly believe in and tirelessly strive for the public values of “implementing media justice, promoting media self-regulation, and protecting people's right to know and citizens' right to communicate”.

As the longest-running non-profit organization in Taiwan dedicated to the promotion of media literacy education, Taiwan Media Watch has regularly released the "Annual Report" since last year, in order to review and reflect on its own shortcomings and areas for improvement, and to be responsible to the Taiwanese society. It is hoped that our efforts will continue to gain the recognition, trust and support of the public.

In addition to routine business, as shown in this "2021 Annual Report", the Taiwan Media Watch with less people and less money has done many things in 2021 amid the pandemic, including starting from November 2021 with Google.org, Taiwan Fact-Check Center (TFC), National Association for the Promotion of Community Universities (NAPCU), Fake News Cleaner, the Association for Better Journalism and other civic groups jointly launched a three-year digital literacy and media literacy education project.

With the release of the latest annual report, we hope that all sectors of the society will continue to provide various support including donations to Taiwan Media Watch, so that we will have more resources to complete and better promote Taiwan's press freedom, media justice, media self-regulation and citizens' rights to communicate. We sincerely invite you to be our partner in pursuit of media citizen empowerment and public interest.
